FAQ

How many session will I need?

Every person is different and comes with a different history and so it is difficult to say accurately how many sessions you will need. I suggest that people should expect ten sessions to move through the arc of change, though this is not prescriptive and some clients may stay at particular points for longer.

Will the therapy work?

Although therapists cannot offer guarantees, for clients who come ready for therapy and engaged in the process, Solution Focused Depth therapy can be both transformative and fascinating, leading to lasting change that strengthens and grows even after you leave therapy.

Is this a type of talk therapy?

It is, but it is very purposeful. It is normal when a client is trying to make sense of something to keep covering the same narrative. But in this therapy, the therapist will guide you back to your desired outcome and make you aware of moments that need to be deepened for understanding and use methods to help you to move towards the deeper issues.

Do I have to have hypnosis?

No. Hypnotherapy is a tool I may use within the therapy you will receive, but if you are not comfortable for any reason we do not have to use it. Hypnosis is used to help you to access deeper held or hidden truths. It can help you to stop the normal business of conscious awareness so that you can focus on what lies beneath your issues.

Will I be in control under hypnosis?

Yes, you will be entirely in control and awake the whole time! You may have seen films or seen stage hypnosis where people reveal things they were not comfortable with or behave as the hypnotist asks without question. This is NOT hypnotherapy. You will be aware all the time, you will be in control all the time and you will only reveal what you are comfortable revealing.

Is hypnotherapy halal?

Hypnotherapy is entirely halal. If you hear scholars saying anything different, their view is based on an incorrect understanding of hypnotherapy. I have explicit permission to practice hypnotherapy from Shaykh Tahir Jilani.

I am nervous of hypnotherapy, is it safe?

Hypnotherapy is completely safe. If you are nervous of hypnotherapy, we do not need to do any until you feel safe with me and feel you fully understand the process. You may also find that you prefer to do the therapy without ever doing hypno- that is also fine. The therapy is tailored to you and the most important thing is that you feel safe and comfortable.
